Volunteer Work

My commitment to charitable work and community support stems from a deep desire to help others, and from my own life experience.

Refugee Services

I came to this country as an immigrant, so I feel strongly about giving back to others that arrive with just the clothes on their back. I am able to share from experience how I overcame discrimination, obtained my U.S. citizenship, and embraced hope in this land of opportunity. Working with Catholic Charities, I have enjoyed welcoming new refugees, helping individuals and families furnish their new apartments and begin a new life. It is so rewarding to see the moment they realize that this has been given to help them succeed. To learn more or donate to Catholic Charities Refugee Services, please click here.

Portland Choir & Orchestra

This nonprofit organization aims to bring high quality music to the Portland Metro area at affordable prices, allowing people with lower incomes to have access to the arts. Besides providing piano accompaniment and singing with this group of auditioned musicians, I have served in other administrative roles. For seven years, I worked as a non-paid executive director of this 200+ member organization. During that time, I organized a “Christmas through a Child’s eyes” concert, and raised over $5,000 for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital.  I also organized the “America, My Home” concert to honor our military veterans. Currently, I manage public relations and sing with the group.  To learn more, join, or donate to this worthy organization, please visit MusicInPortland.org
